PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE

Your First Breath Underwater

WHAT IS OPEN WATER COURSE?

The PADI Open Water Diver course is your entry into recreational scuba diving. You’ll learn the fundamentals of diving, practice essential skills in a controlled environment, and gradually take those skills into open water with your instructor.

By the end of the course, the goal isn’t just to earn a certification – it’s to feel comfortable, capable and confident underwater.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Complete beginners aged 10 years and above who can swim, are comfortable in the water, and are ready to learn how to scuba dive. You should also be medically fit for diving and able to complete the required swimming and water-skills assessment.

HOW THE COURSE WORKS

Your Path to Open Water

Theory, confined-water training and four open-water dives – building your skills progressively until you’re ready to dive as a certified Open Water Diver.

01

Learn the Theory

ONLINE • AT YOUR OWN PACE

Start with the theory behind scuba diving using PADI’s online learning material. You’ll learn about your equipment, how diving affects your body, buoyancy, dive planning and basic safety — all before we get into the water.

02

Learn the Skills

5 CONFINED WATER SESSIONS

Now we get in the water. In a pool or shallow-water environment, you’ll learn to use your equipment, breathe underwater and practise the essential skills you’ll need for your open-water dives.

03

Dive in Open Water

4 OPEN WATER DIVES

Take everything you’ve learned into real open water. Across four training dives, you’ll practise your skills, build confidence and gradually become more comfortable underwater.
