PADI SPECIALTY COURSES

Find Your Kind of Diving

WHAT ARE PADI SPECIALTY COURSES?

PADI Specialty courses let you focus on specific types of diving and develop the skills to do them with greater confidence. Whether you want better buoyancy, deeper diving, wreck exploration, night diving or stronger underwater navigation, each specialty gives you focused training and practical experience in that area.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Entry requirements vary by specialty. Many courses can be started as a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, while others require additional experience or certifications. We’ll help you choose specialties that match your current certification, experience and the type of diving you want to do.

Specialty Courses FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PADI Specialty course? +
PADI Specialty courses let you focus on a particular type of diving or develop a specific skill. Depending on the specialty, you might work on buoyancy, deeper diving, wreck exploration, night diving, drift diving or underwater search and recovery techniques.
Which specialties can I take with BubbleTrail? +
We currently focus on Deep Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, Drift Diver and Search & Recovery Diver. Availability depends on the training location and upcoming course schedule.
Which specialty should I choose? +
It depends on the kind of diver you want to become. If you want better control underwater, start with Peak Performance Buoyancy. If you want to explore deeper sites, consider Deep Diver. Wreck, Night, Drift and Search & Recovery each develop skills for different diving environments and experiences.
Do all Specialty courses have the same prerequisites? +
No. Prerequisites and minimum ages vary depending on the specialty. Some can be started relatively early in your diving journey, while others require additional certification or experience. We’ll confirm the requirements for your chosen specialty before you enrol.
How long does a Specialty course take? +
It depends on the specialty. Each course has its own knowledge development and training-dive requirements, so the number of dives and overall schedule can vary. We’ll share the complete training plan before your course.
Are Specialty courses mostly theory or diving? +
Most of the specialties we offer are built around practical underwater training. You’ll first understand the planning, techniques and safety considerations, then practise and apply those skills during your training dives.
Can Specialty dives count toward Advanced Open Water? +
In some cases, an Adventure Dive completed as part of your Advanced Open Water training may count toward the corresponding PADI Specialty course. Talk to us about what you’ve already completed and we can help you plan your next step.
Will I receive a separate certification? +
Yes. When you successfully complete the requirements for a PADI Specialty course, you’ll earn the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver certification.
Can I complete a Specialty during a BubbleTrail dive trip? +
Sometimes. If the destination, dive conditions and trip schedule are suitable for the specialty, we may be able to incorporate training into your trip. Speak to us before the trip so we can check what’s possible and plan the required dives properly.
